Mexican Ninja Outfits and Cosmetics
Suits stay between runs. They still lose to an empty Way of the Donkey.
Mexican Ninja sells swagger as a system. On August 12, 2026 the studio told Steam that cosmetics and mechanical upgrades carry over between runs as permanent unlocks. Launch reviewers then described suits and colorways that are not only paint: a larger parry window, explosions after every light attack, and similar hooks. This page is the wardrobe. It is not a datamined closet of fifty official names on day two of launch.
The console trailer above is the look. Side quests is how many suits actually drop. Way of the Donkey is still the tree you buy with coins after the garbage truck.
Permanent versus temporary, again
Three layers, because people mix them up in Steam comments:
- Donkey nodes — HP, damage, extra combat tools. Bought from El Mero Mero Sensei. Permanent. Slow. Required for a sane how long to beat first clear.
- Outfits / colorways — also permanent, per the August 12 note and launch reviews. Often earned from NPCs, not from the same coin shop. Mechanical perks exist. They are still a layer, not a replacement for layer 1.
- Run cards — hangover, burn, death charms, mid-run Jutsu upgrades. Reset on the truck. Run items covers the families. A glowing jacket does not save a curse card you should not have taken.
If you skip Sensei to “save for a drip,” you misunderstood the economy. Coins buy donkey. Suits mostly come from jobs. Paying a drunk gambler is a side-quest sink, not a hat kiosk. Read side quests.
How to use a suit as a build piece
Treat an outfit perk like a tiny extra Jutsu family:
- Bigger parry window — this is a combat crutch while you learn Chunks and the rebuilt panda. Equip it when bosses are the wall. Take it off later if you want pride; the game lists adjustable difficulty too.
- Explosions on light attacks — street-pack clear. Pairs with a boss-slot Jutsu so you are not running double wipe. Sketch that on the build planner.
- Unknown future perks — we will not invent them. When Steam news names a suit, it will be cited on Steam news.
Do not stack two light-attack explosion fantasies and then complain the panda takes forever. Same rule as Jutsus: one crowd tool, one punish tool, now with a jacket on top.
How to find outfits without a wiki spreadsheet
- Talk to NPCs. Launch coverage is consistent that side-character quests unlock outfits.
- Play more runs. Dialogue changes after death; a job can appear on attempt twelve that attempt two never showed.
- Finish a first clear before you treat the closet as the game. The studio’s 8-hour wager is heads, not hats.
- Ignore anyone posting a complete official list with hidden IDs on August 22, 2026. If Amber publishes one, we will link it.
Sakila (the healing drink whose name mashes sake and tequila) is not an outfit. It is world flavor from reviews. Do not hunt a “Sakila jacket.” Hunt HP nodes and barrels. Details belong with run items more than here.
What outfits will not do
They will not add a second player. They will not skip Red District. They will not make keyboard parry automatic — controls still matter. They will not turn a $16.99 brawler into Hades. The review already drew that line.
They will make a long-running errand feel like progress when the donkey tree is trickling. That is the point of the 15-hour side-content wager. Wear the suit. Then go fight El Cascos like the achievement hunters do.

Outfits are how Mexican Ninja lets you look like the trailer between deaths. They are not the trailer. Buy the donkey, do the jobs, then worry about whether the sombrero matches the katana.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Do Mexican Ninja outfits persist after death?
Yes. The August 12, 2026 Steam update said cosmetics and mechanical upgrades are permanent unlocks between runs. Mid-run cards still reset.
Are outfits only cosmetic?
Not always. Launch reviews described suits and colorways with mechanical perks, including a larger parry window and explosions after light attacks.
Should I farm outfits before the five heads?
No. First clear is the 8-hour plan. Outfits sit in the 15-hour side-content plan. Way of the Donkey nodes keep you alive; hats do not replace them.
Where do I buy outfits?
Most coverage points at NPC side quests, not at the same coin shop as donkey nodes. There is no complete official kiosk list this wiki will invent.
