Mexican Ninja Run Items and Blessings

Temporary cards make a run spicy. They are not the Way of the Donkey.

Run Items

Mid-run Mexican Ninja is a card draft. You smash, a screen offers max HP, hangover heavies, burn payoffs, or a death charm, and you guess. This page names the families that show up in demo playthroughs and previews so you can draft in-family with your Jutsus. It is not a complete item encyclopedia. Anyone posting fifty official names with hidden IDs on launch weekend is guessing.

Permanent upgrades live on Way of the Donkey. Do not confuse the two or you will hoard charms and skip Sensei.

Families to draft toward

Survivability. Max HP, heal-on-travel, heal-on-heavy-kill chances. Boring. First pick when you still die to Chunks.

Combo payoffs. Extra damage while combo is high, rewards for beating areas with a max combo. These make combat worth playing correctly.

Hangover. Heavies inflict hangover; some cards heal when a heavy kill lands. Pairs with heavy-leaning best builds.

Burn. Airborne attacks inflict burn, fire trails, extra damage to burning enemies, Amaterasu-style lines after you get hit. Pairs with fire Jutsus.

Knock / slam. Extra damage when knocking, levitation crash, push-and-damage blessings. Pairs with screen-reset Jutsus.

Curse / shared pain. Cards that hurt you and them. High ceiling, high garbage-truck rate. Take only after parry is real.

Death charms. Preview coverage said you can hold a small number (demo: about four). They are insurance for bosses, not a third Jutsu slot. Using all of them on street packs is how a “ready” run still dies to an intro swing.

Passives. Demo talk put a larger cap here (about twelve). Treat that as “you will be offered many small modifiers,” not as a mandate to fill every slot with junk.

Sakila. Launch reviews named the heal drink Sakila — sake mashed with tequila, same fusion joke as the city. It is a recovery pickup, not an outfit and not a Jutsu. Break scenery; drink when the street allows; do not hunt a fake “Sakila build.”

How to pick a card in five seconds

  1. Does it match a Jutsu I already equipped?
  2. Does it keep me alive until the next lord (walkthrough rhythm)?
  3. If neither, is it at least not a self-curse?

If all three answers are no, take HP.

What resets

When the truck comes:

  • Most blessings, hangover/burn stacks, and run-only Jutsu upgrades vanish.
  • Death charms you already spent are gone; unused charms should not be assumed to persist unless the live UI says so — believe the UI.
  • Coins not spent are only useful if the hub still lets you buy. Spend them. The skill tree is the stash.

How to find more loot

Break the city. Play for combo. Do not skip a reward room because you are speedrunning a head you cannot parry yet. There is no map tracker on this wiki because the walkthrough is a rhythm, not a collectathon.

Outfits and swag are a separate vanity-and-stats hunt. Launch coverage said cosmetics persist between runs and often drop from side quests. They do not belong in a damage draft until Way of the Donkey has a floor. See outfits.

Next

Draft with a plan from best builds, then go. If you want a buy/refund conversation instead of cards, that is the review.

A draft you can actually remember

Street one: HP if you got hit, otherwise a card that matches slot A. Street two: match slot B or a charm. Lord door: if you have no charm and no HP card, you already lost the draft. Do not take a curse-on-everyone joke because the art was funny. The garbage truck does not grade comedy.

Breakables are still loot. Walking past barrels to “save time” for a head you cannot parry is how walkthrough attempts stay theoretical. Combo payoffs only pay if you play combat instead of mashing in a pile. The card is not going to aim for you. If a charm is still unspent when the lord intro starts, that is the correct inventory. If every charm is already gone, you drafted like a street pack was the final boss. Re-read bosses before the next truck.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Do Mexican Ninja blessings stay after death?

Almost all mid-run cards reset when the garbage truck hauls you back. Way of the Donkey nodes bought with coins are what stay. Always spend in the hub.

What are death charms?

Limited insurance picks from the run draft (demo coverage suggested a small cap). Save them for lord rooms, not for the first street pack.

Should I always take damage cards over HP?

No. If Chunks still one-cycle you, take HP and heal chances. Damage cards shine after Combat and Controls are solved.

Is there a complete item list?

Not a verified public datamine this wiki will copy. We document families (hangover, burn, knock, charms) and will expand when official patch notes name them.
